The Department of Geology at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-stream position in Sedimentology/Surficial Processes at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester 2017. We seek an individual who is committed to excellence in teaching and research at the undergraduate level. Completion of the Ph.D. is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire. The area of specialization is open but could include modern or ancient sedimentation, environmental sedimentology, geomorphology/surficial geology, and basin analysis. The successful applicant will teach Sedimentology/Surficial Processes and develop other courses at the introductory level for non-majors and at the upper-level for geology students. Participation in the Geology Department's summer field courses and involvement of undergraduates in research are expected. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. Teaching courses in the interdisciplinary Environmental Studies Program is also a strong possibility, depending on area of specialty. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF EARTH AND ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES (Hydrogeology/Groundwater Modeling)

Applications are invited for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching and curricular development of undergraduate and graduate courses, to advise and direct graduate students, and to develop a rigorous research program that is supported by external funding. It is expected that the research program will focus on the responses of groundwater systems to climate change. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related field at the time of appointment. Ability to contribute to multidisciplinary water and climate research efforts within Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences and across the university will be considered as an advantage. The preferred candidate will also demonstrate strong potential for research and teaching.

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences offers B.S. degrees in Geology and Meteorology-Climatology, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Duke University: Visiting Assistant Professor in Water Resources

The Nicholas School of the Environment is searching for a Visiting Assistant Professor in water resources, hydrology, or closely related discipline, to start August, 2016.  This is a term position currently planned for at least two years.  Responsibilities will include:  1) teaching three Master of Environmental Management water resources courses per year, 2) significant academic and career advising for professional Master’s students, and 3) advising of required Master’s projects.  Specific courses will include hydrology, a water management course, and an additional course in the lecturer's area of expertise.  Interaction with upper level undergraduate and Ph.D. students is also possible.  Applicants must be available to teach in the 2016 fall semester, with start date flexible to allow preparation of courses. Professional experience outside academia is preferred, but not required.

Whitman College: Geology Department 2016-17

The Geology Department at Whitman College is searching for a oneyear

sabbatical replacement for the 2016-17 academic year.

This is a visiting position in Geology, with expertise in Structural Geology, at the

rank of assistant professor. Effective August 2016. A Ph.D. is required. Over the

course of two semesters, the successful candidate will teach Structural Geology

with lab, Introductory Physical Geology with lab, and two lecture/seminar courses

in the candidate’s area of expertise. One will be a non-science majors course

and the other an upper-level undergraduate course.
