Whitman College: Geology Department 2016-17


The Geology Department at Whitman College is searching for a oneyear
sabbatical replacement for the 2016-17 academic year.

This is a visiting position in Geology, with expertise in Structural Geology, at the
rank of assistant professor. Effective August 2016. A Ph.D. is required. Over the
course of two semesters, the successful candidate will teach Structural Geology
with lab, Introductory Physical Geology with lab, and two lecture/seminar courses
in the candidate’s area of expertise. One will be a non-science majors course
and the other an upper-level undergraduate course.

letter of application; separate statements addressing the candiadate’s teaching
interests and scholarly agenda; curriculum vitae; the contact information for three
people who will be contacted for letters of reference; graduate transcripts; and
complete sets of teaching evaluations or other evidence of demonstrated or
potential excellence in undergraduate instruction.

Each application should address the candidate’s interest in working with majors
and non-majors at a liberal arts college, at all levels of undergraduate instruction.
